The fees and dues for each of these associations is mandatory for joining Realty Executives - Hedges Real Estate as we are members of those organizations. The total startup costs for joining all of these groups and getting started as a Realtor is approximately $2,000. These must be paid up front and no loans or delayed payment of these expenses is allowed.

We are looking for honest individuals who are willing to invest in themselves and work at this business full-time (20 to 50 hours a week) in the Lawrence, Baldwin, Eudora and Northeast Kansas areas.

Being a real estate agent means that you will be an Independent Contractor, thus being self-employed but affiliated with a Broker.
Requirements to Join Us:
You should have or be able to quickly develop a large network of friends and family members who will refer customers to you in order to be successful in this business.
Honest and Highly Self Motivated.
Good credit record.
Be willing to use a computer. Our staff is excellent at helping you with technology.
Must own and use a Handheld cell/digitall phone with voice mail.
You must be a good listener and provide great customer service in order to join us. You need to be willing to learn and take a large number of real estate classes and training.
If you join us, you will be required to follow the Realtor Code of Ethics, Fair Housing Laws, Real Estate License Laws, and all other applicable laws. You will be encouraged to achieve your Graduate of Realtor Institute (GRI) designation within two years = a series of six real estate classes costing about $200 per class (two days each).
One of the most important success factors is knowing a large network of people in the area. The agents that have succeeded in this business are active in the community and are members of clubs, groups, and have a large network of friends and family who gladly refer business to them. This business is much more difficult without such a support network. You will need to demonstrate that you have such a referral network before joining us.
You need to have money in reserve to get your business going. It is recommended to have $2,000 to $10,000 in cash reserves or line of credit.
Please be advised that being a Realtor is a business in which you are an independent contractor = self employed. Realtors are not salaried & work only on a commission basis.
No bonuses or guaranteed pay is offered. Start-up costs for new agents can be approximately $2,000 or more and monthly costs vary depending on your choices of services and the marketing you do.

Agents pay their own expenses each month, but for good agents, income potential can be very high. Some agents gross nearly $300,000 a year or more before expenses, however the average agent in this area makes about $30,000 to $40,000 before expenses.

Our agents each pay a monthly fee. We reduce the first 6 months to a nominal amount in order to help you get started.

Your first sale usually covers your start up costs and then you can start making good money from there on, depending on your activity.
